Ad Manager Having problems getting ads to show

Yeah that's what I thought as well. Are all those mods you use free? I can do the tests myself if needed. I am fairly busy at the moment otherwise I would make a release which would fix the position issue and add file health checking. It is high on my list to do though.

Yes, except for the Post Ratings

If you don't find your solution before Monday I will put aside some time for it.

No luck yet Robbo, do you think you can take a look at when you have some time?

    Thanks!

Just for the record this issue has been resolved privately. It was a cache issue with the Ad Manager that had to be forced. Will be fixed in future versions.
    gldtn likes this.
  6. How do I go about fixing this for myself? I'm also getting "the field 'position' was not recognised" error after updating the code.
  7. Robbo Staff Member

I didn't fix the position error for him, I fixed the ads not showing in general. Are you experiencing the same issue?
  8. No just the "the field 'position' was not recognised error after updating the code. Is there a fix for that?
  9. Robbo Staff Member

When does this error come up? Does the manager work or not? That error is only known (unless you tell me differently) for when in debug mod trying to modify positions.
  10. Yes, it comes up when I'm trying to create a new position.

Yep it is a known issue and will be fixed next release. There shouldn't be too much reason to use positions at the moment unless you have a completely custom theme without any hooks.
  12. When will the update be released? I was doing ok with the default positions before, but now I need to add a couple custom ones...

It was planned for after a few other things (new website being one) but I think I will push this up to be after I am done with a client which should end tonight. So will try get a release out in the next 48 hours to fix any of these little issues.

I had a similar Problem but it wasn't caused by Ad Manager some of the Advertising sites give you bad Code...

We're running in to this problem (the original one about ads not showing) too.
Was the cache issue mentioned pushed out in a release yet?

Like gldtn, I've tried a simple 'test' text ad without success and there is nothing in the logs.

I was literally about to post this but its now working... I have no idea why.
I'll post more after I've investigated a bit.

Caching issues should be resolved however it sounds like that is why it would randomly work for you... it is on my radar.

Thanks. I haven't been able to find any clue as to what was going on with that - however now that it is working I've found another bug related to ad display.
If I choose more than one position to display a single ad in, it will only show up in one of them.
Two different ads show up fine though.

That is as designed. However things like that will change, just don't know how yet.
  19. Shadlington New Member

Ah. I can understand the reasoning for that, but the interface doesn't reflect it.
There certainly shouldn't be a select all option, for instance (I had tried showing an ad in every position for a quick overview of every available spot)
